Our story
We started with a memory.
Not a business plan. Not a market gap. A memory.
Where it began
The memory of a frock.
The memory of a frock. A beautiful, carefully made frock with smocking at the chest, little pearl buttons, and a hem so delicate it felt like it belonged to another era. The kind of frock that a mother dressed her daughter in on a special morning, fastening each button slowly, deliberately, the way you do when you want time to pause.
That frock was not thrown away. It was folded. Kept. Passed on.
Heritage
The tradition we grew up with.
In Maharashtrian homes and in so many Indian homes, we have always understood that certain things are worth keeping. A bride’s wedding saree is not just a garment. It is a memory, a moment, a piece of a woman’s most important day. It lives in a wardrobe for decades. It is brought out carefully, shown to daughters and granddaughters, sometimes worn again. It carries with it the weight of love and time.
We grew up watching this. We grew up understanding that the most beautiful things are the ones made with enough intention to last. But somewhere along the way, children’s clothing lost that intention. It became fast. Disposable. Made to be outgrown and forgotten.
We refused to accept that.
Our beginning
Why EarlyBirds exists.
EarlyBirds was founded on a single, stubborn belief — that a child’s clothing deserves the same reverence we give to the things we keep forever. Every piece in our collection is sourced and curated with one question in mind: Will this be kept?
Not just worn once and outgrown. Not washed until it fades. But truly kept — folded with care, placed at the back of a wardrobe, rediscovered years later with a sharp intake of breath and the most beautiful kind of nostalgia. Oh. I remember this. This was yours.
We draw from the finest European traditions of children’s dressing: hand smocking, broderie anglaise, lace collars, Swiss tulle, Pima cotton. Techniques and fabrics that have been used for generations precisely because they are worth preserving. We pair them with the warmth, the sentiment, and the deep respect for memory that is at the heart of our Indian heritage.
The result is clothing that exists at the intersection of two worlds. Heirloom in its craft. Indian in its soul.

Our place in time
A response to a world that forgot to slow down.
We live in an age of fast fashion. Clothing made quickly, worn briefly, forgotten easily. Trends that arrive on Monday and disappear by Friday. Fabrics chosen for cost, not for feel. Designs that exist to be scrolled past, not to be remembered.
And yet the world is round. What goes around, comes around.
Craft & intention
We are part of that return.
Slowly, quietly, beautifully, the world is finding its way back. Back to craft. Back to detail. Back to the things that take time and therefore mean something.
At EarlyBirds, we begin not with a trend but with a thought. With the memory of an intricate detail: a hand-turned lace, a smocked bodice, a fabric so carefully blended it asks to be touched. We think about the design from its very beginning — how a print is conceived, how a lace is chosen, how a fabric feels against a child’s skin before it becomes a garment at all.
From the first sketch to the finished product, every EarlyBirds piece is a journey. A journey through craft, through memory, through the belief that beauty is worth the time it takes to create it. And when your child wears it, they are not just wearing a dress or a suit. They are wearing that entire journey.
Every EarlyBirds child wears a journey.
What we believe.
Childhood deserves to be dressed with intention.
-
Clothes as memory
The clothes a child wears in their earliest years are not just fabric. They are photographs waiting to be taken — the backdrop to birthdays, festivals, family gatherings, and all the moments that become stories.
-
Choosing what is remembered
A mother choosing a dress for her daughter, a grandmother selecting a little suit for her grandson, is doing something quietly profound. She is choosing what will be remembered.
-
Dressed with intention
We believe childhood deserves to be dressed with intention — with enough love, craft, and care that the garments themselves become part of the family’s story.
For every chapter
Comfort for Every Chapter.
EarlyBirds is for the mothers who still remember their own frocks. For the grandmothers who kept theirs. For the families who understand that the most precious things are not always the most expensive — they are the ones made with enough love to last.
We are based in Mumbai and Pune, and we ship across India. Every piece is carefully packed, because the unboxing of an EarlyBirds garment should feel like opening something worth keeping.
